Announcing the Launch of Puffer Governance

We are happy to announce the launch of Puffer Judgment in Aragon. Together we have developed a custom governance solution to launch alongside the PUFFER token, a meaningful step on their decentralization roadmap.

Bloated financing is a leading innovator in Ethereum infrastructure, focusing on next-generation pools powered by Liquid Restore (LRT) and pre-confirmation such as AVS. With products like Puffer UniFi and Puffer UniFi AVS on EigenLayer, Puffer is dedicated to promoting decentralization in Ethereum.

Puffer’s governance roadmap focuses on Ethereum alignment and takes into account EIP hacks with the goal of becoming a Completely decentralized. PUFFER holders receive not only signing bonuses, but also voting rights that grow stronger over time– Ensuring long-term security and sustainable development of the protocol.

veLocker

To support the launch of Puffer tokens, we’ve built a new, custom Voting Escrow(ve) contract that encourages the Puffer community to stake their tokens to earn rewards and increase their voting power over time. This helps incentivize token holders who receive rewards for helping secure the protocol, while also allowing the community to actively participate in shaping Puffer’s governance from day one.

Here are some of the key features of Puffer’s modern veLocker software:

  • PUFFER holders can share their tokens to mint vePUFFER NFTs that represent their tokens.
  • PUFFER codes can be placed at any time. There is a warm-up period of up to 3 days before vePUFFER holders can participate in management, and the minimum staking period is 1 month.
  • vePUFFER’s voting power increases over time, as long as PUFFER tokens remain premium.
  • vePUFFER can be uninstalled at any time. There is a minimum exit queue duration of one month, and unstable tokens reset voting power.

Puffer’s veLocker is built using Aragon’s new veLocker modular library. Many projects have relied on five contracts from other protocols to implement five governance models. We’ve drawn on lessons learned from several DeFi protocols and projects including Curve, Mode, Solidly, Aura, Balancer, and Aerodrome to develop a unified veLocker contract that is easier to customize and more secure. Our solution helps projects define parameters in more detail such as lock duration, warm-up and cool-down periods, and the V-curve that increases or decreases voting strength over time.

Aragon OSx DAO

At the heart of Puffer’s management system is our next generation framework, Aragon OSX. Once PUFFER holders have staked their tokens and passed the 3-day standby period, they can begin participating in temporary signal votes using their vePUFFER, which will soon move to on-chain voting.

Specific milestones in Puffer’s governance roadmap can only be unlocked through planned future upgrades of Ethereum itself, which means it’s essential that Puffer’s governance system is designed with adaptability in mind. This is made possible by the plugin-based architecture of Aragon OSx, ensuring that changes can be made safely by upgrading or installing a new governance plugin. Connecting Aragon OSx DAO to custom veLocker ensures that Puffer’s governance can grow securely and sustainably alongside their committed community members.

Swelling Governance Center

The Puffer community now has a house dedicated to governance. In the Puffer Governance Hub, vePUFFER holders can temporarily participate in signaling votes from day one. This is where future iterations of Puffer Governance will live, where the hub can adapt by adding the flows and features the community needs to participate in governance as it evolves over time, including moving to onchain governance in upcoming versions of PUFFER Governance.

Swelling Governance Center

The Governance Center is built using our governance implementation model. It allows projects to quickly deploy a unique interface to interact with custom governance contracts.

This represents just the beginning of Puffer’s governance journey, with more exciting updates to come with the implementation of the Puffer onchain governance model in the near future.

DAOs are not one-size-fits-all, and the Aragon team works hard on building custom solutions for a wide range of Ethereum protocols. Whether you need a custom solution, or want to learn more about the adaptability of Aragon OSx, we’d love to hear from you.

Our products are customizable and adaptable, so you can start your decentralization journey in a way that supports your project today and into the future.
