Kicking off the #TeamStaking program with Dappnode

It’s time for us to do our part. We start the interior #TeamStake The software is in partnership with our old friends at Dappnode. Our goal is to get all Aragon contributors home sharing by making running a node accessible and fun!

We will use DVT and collaborate with Obol and Diva to provide our team members with the support and education they need to succeed.

We hope that organizations across web3 will follow suit and join us in decentralizing Ethereum, the infrastructure we rely on to build our protocol and products.

Why Aragon is a #TeamStake

Help secure the future of DAOs. DAOs rely on the decentralization of the underlying network on which they are built. Without an unstoppable network, DAOs themselves cannot be stopped. Decentralization ensures that the network is resistant to censorship and capture. If there is one chink in the armor, it will eventually be exploited.

Decentralization of Aragon’s infrastructure. Having our entire team running their own nodes builds the ability to run certain parts of our infrastructure – whether that’s running a backend or using a long-latency service to decouple voting procedures from their timestamps, ensuring voter privacy.

Learn and have fun. The best way to learn how the Ethereum infrastructure works is to participate in it. Team staking is also a great team building opportunity. Running a group is one way we can work together to achieve a common goal!

“Staking is not just about maximizing revenue. Revenue is part of the reward for providing value to the network. Ethereum has put a lot of effort into designing a system that, unlike other blockchains, can be made very resilient to interference, but it is up to us to take advantage of this.” capabilities and make Ethereum an uncensored and unstoppable network.”

How #TeamStake works and how your organization can replicate it

We hope organizations across web3 will follow suit and join us in making Ethereum more resilient. Here’s how the program works:

  1. Reduce the cost of Dappnodes for our shareholders by purchasing in bulk and subsidizing a portion of the costs. If necessary, shareholders can repay the cost over time.
  2. Providing educational workshops and one-on-one support to stakeholders with providers such as Obol and Diva.
  3. Use DVT to #TeamStake, so it’s accessible to everyone. It also protects your stakeholders from individual nodes failing or acting maliciously. With Obol, you can create groups and reduce the association required. Or you can remove the link all together and run validators through Lido or Ether.fi to expand and diversify their operator pools. Soon, Diva will be launched on the mainnet and this self-peer will drop to 1 ETH.

“Signing houses is at the core of decentralization in Ethereum and is something we are focused on enabling with DVT. We are very excited to support this initiative with Aragon, and we hope this is the first of many to partner with Team Saging.”

#TeamStake is powered by Dappnode, Diva, and Obol

Dappnode makes it easy and accessible for anyone to run a node from home. Encouraging our teams to participate from home not only adds more nodes, but also increases the global distribution of the network. The more individual nodes we run around the world, the more resilient the blockchain becomes.

Distributed Validation Technology (DVT) is what makes team signing possible. This makes running the verifier easier and less risky, because the responsibilities are divided among a group of computers instead of just one machine. In our case, we will form groups of Aragon team members to join forces and run the validator together. With tools like Obol and Diva, you don’t need to have 32 ETH to run the validator, as you can pool your ETH with others.

Obol’s Charon is a DVT middleware, allowing one or more Ethereum validators to be run by a group of nodes. Using split smart contracts, contract operators can split the initial 32ETH requirement as well as the staking rewards earned. Protocols like Lido and Ether.fi are integrating Obol DVT to expand and diversify the operator pool.

Diva is a liquid staking protocol using distributed validation technology. It’s flexible and trust-reducing, because the keys are split between computers rather than one person holding them. We will be testing the Diva protocol on testnet right now, and preparing our teams to participate in the mainnet launch.

On top of running our own validators, we will also select minority clients that have consensus and execution. Client diversity is important because running implementation and consensus clients that do not have a majority stake can help mitigate severe risks to the network, such as the consensus layer being unable to terminate, or improper branching and termination.

“We are thrilled to be chosen to be part of Aragon’s #TeamStake initiative and to have the opportunity to support them in something that we truly believe is at the heart of Ethereum itself and perfectly aligns with the core values of Diva Scking. We encourage more teams to follow suit and join the movement To make every DAO, every team, and every community more decentralized.
