FTX Liquidator Transfers Trigger Volatility in BIT and RAY Tokens

  • Alameda Research has transferred $64.4 million worth of BIT tokens to Mirana Ventures.
  • FTX liquidator transferred nearly $2 million worth of RAY tokens to Binance.
  • The US government transferred millions of FTX/Alameda tokens to two wallets.

Alameda Research has just transferred 72.6 million BitDAO (BIT) tokens — roughly $64.4 million — to Mirana Ventures. Alameda also received 10.335 million USDC and 28.4 million USDT from Mirana about 20 hours ago.

On-chain analysis platform PeckShield said FTX’s liquidator also transferred 378,000 Raydium (RAY) tokens — about $1.99 million — to Binance. This may mean that the liquidator will sell the tokens. It is possible that both BIT and RAY will become volatile in the short term.

No one knows why these transfers occur, but BIT stock is up 5.31% in the past 24 hours, and RAY stock is up 5.44%. BIT is currently worth $0.9606, and RAY is $5.18, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Alameda Research Holdings

Arkham data shows that Alameda Research’s portfolio is worth $274 million. The bankrupt company owns 98.8 million BIT tokens, worth $90.31 million.

These BIT tokens are part of an agreement between Alameda and BitDAO. BitDAO is a major decentralized autonomous organization backed by Bybit, Pantera, billionaire Peter Thiel, and others. In the deal, Alameda was to keep the 100 million BIT tokens it acquired in November 2021 when it transferred 3.36 million FTT tokens.

The US government transfers FTX funds

The US government also transferred some of the funds seized from FTX/Alameda. The transfer included 5,024 ETH (about $18.17 million), $13.58 million USD, 54.89 billion SHIB (about $1.55 million), and other tokens.
