Italy -based Unicredit SPA has announced that it will provide its professional customers an organized investment product linked to ISHares Bitcoin Trust from Blackrock, providing their customers with full capital protection against losses.
“The bank is planning to issue an investment certificate of five years denominated in the dollar associated with ISHARES Bitcoin Trust ETF, which will provide 100 % capital protection at the entitlement,” according to an internal memorandum witnessed by the news that the bank also confirmed.
The maximum return on investment is up to 85 % of ETF performance, with the minimum investment requirements of $ 25,000, according to the memo. The Unicredit certificate will only be available to professional customers in the bank in Italy from July 1 to July 28.
This step reflects the increasing institutional demand for bitcoin investments subject to regulation. IBIT of Blackrock has witnessed rapid growth since its launch in the United States in January 2024, which now runs $ 75 billion.
“We are witnessing an increasing interest in professional investors in tools associated with emerging assets classes such as cryptocurrencies,” said the head of collective investment, stock and credit sales solutions and its circulation at Unicredit Chicco Di Stasi. “With this product, we offer our professional customers a special solution – the first of its kind in Italy.”
On March 25, 2025, Blackrock expanded its mark in space with the launch of the Bitcoin Exchang trading product in Europe. Ishares Bitcoin ETP has started trading on Xetra and Euronext Paris under the IB1T index, and on Euronxt Amsterdam under BTCN. The product was launched with the temporary waiver of the 10 basis dots, which reduces the percentage of expenses to 0.15 % until the end of the year.
“It reflects what can really be considered a turning point in the industry – a mixture of applicable demand from retailers with more professionals who are now entering into the barn,” the President of Europe and the Middle East, ISHARES of Blackrock Manuela Spendeo.
